Change your fate, and fight for your existence in this narrative driven boss-rush adventure! Now with 4 player co-op!
Towertale is a 2D, story-driven action game that has a heavy focus on boss battles. Fight your way up the elusive Tower and challenge the bosses of each level. Unveil the mystery that lies up in its peak. Play four different stories and unlock multiple endings. Join Lionel, Faindrel, Lord Snicklefritz and "Dark Echo" in their quest to get to the top!
The Tower is known to have been created by an ancient being. Legends say that whoever defeats all of the guardians and get to the top will have the right to be granted the ultimate wish - "The ability to change one's fate". In the past 100 years, many have tried and never been heard from ever again. Until one day, four brave souls came forth and challenged their fate.
MiSou Games first started prototyping a different game with a working title called "Food Trip Mayhem", a food based metroidvania adventure game being developed in Unity Game Engine. But the project was postponed and the team decided to work on "Towertale" because of budget and time constraints of the prior game. Towertale was inspired from boss-rush games like Cuphead, Furi, and Hollow Knight, but added a mix of story telling through visual novel-like elements in the game. The main key aspect of Towertale is being able to play four different characters with each having their own different reasons for coming to the tower. You are able to fight a multitude of boss battles that tell a small story that complement each of the characters. The four main characters share a single save slot so whatever choices you make affects the other's playthrough. The ultimate goal of the game is to get to the top and find out the mystery and legend surrounding the tower.
On July 30, 2019, Towertale for Windows OS is released on Steam and Itch.io. A week following that, released the Linux version.
In September 2019, MiSou Games signed up for a publishing deal with Keybol Games to port the game to Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PS4 consoles. Towertale for Nintendo Switch is scheduled to be released on April 8. 2020 via the Nintendo eShop on US and EU regions.
